Choose the right type of picnic
Small groups can use ordinary picnic areas without booking. A group reservation gives priority at its booked group site from 8 am to 8 pm.
The complete bookable park list on the City page is Burnaby Fraser Foreshore, Confederation and Central Park. A park map point does not identify the correct numbered picnic site. Use the booking map and contract.

Apply and confirm the booking
The City begins accepting applications on February 1 for the following year. Complete the picnic application and send it to Allotments and Bookings using the contact on the source page. Call 604-294-7222 for help.
A calendar date without a booking is not a guarantee: pending applications are not shown. The posted 2026 calendars are past-season records, not 2027 availability. Pay the full fee after receiving the contract to confirm the booking. Fees vary by location and year.

Plan approvals and safety
Commercial general liability insurance is required. Ask about the exact coverage before purchasing it. Cancellation and rescheduling conditions arrive with the contract.
Mention food concessions, food trucks, amplified sound, tents, stages and inflatable equipment on the application. These need approval. A food concession also needs Fraser Health approval or a health operating permit.
Dogs are not allowed in picnic areas. Smoking and vaping are prohibited in public parks. Alcohol is limited to permitted areas or approved beer gardens.
Fraser Foreshore closure notice
When checked, the City still showed hazard-tree closures at the original picnic area and an alternate area near the pier, at the foot of Tillicum Street. The notice says the closure lasts until fall without giving a confirmed reopening day. Confirm the assigned site before booking or travelling.
