Who qualifies
The business must have a permanent Burnaby location and a valid Burnaby business licence. Eligible work includes construction and trades services such as property maintenance, repair and inspection, plus health professionals or providers visiting clients at home.
Home-based businesses can qualify if they meet these tests. An IMBL supplements the regular home-city licence. It does not replace it.
Complete participating city list
The Burnaby programme names six municipalities: Burnaby, Delta, New Westminster, Richmond, Surrey and Vancouver. It does not grant a blanket licence for every Metro Vancouver city.
This is mobile service coverage, not permission to open a fixed commercial location anywhere. A health provider at several commercial Burnaby locations needs a separate licence for each.
Cost, term and working documents
The published IMBL fee is $300, with no pro-rating. The ordinary Burnaby business licence fee is additional. The IMBL runs for the same 12-month term as the local business licence.
Carry a current copy while working. When applying for a permit in a participating municipality, present the required trade certification. Local permit and work requirements still apply.
Apply through Licensing
Contact Licensing at 604-294-7320 or 4949 Canada Way to confirm eligibility and apply. Explain the actual work, permanent business address and whether visits are to homes or commercial premises.
