The directory’s scope

These are the 11 designated areas on the City page checked October 14, 2026, not all parks where a leashed dog may walk. Unless noted otherwise, hours are dawn to dusk. A designation covers the marked area or trail, not necessarily the whole park.

Maps below use City-listed park addresses and place queries. They identify the park area, not a surveyed dog-gate entrance, step-free path or guaranteed parking space. Follow the linked official off-leash map for the actual boundary.

Before entering

Dogs must wear a valid licence and have current vaccinations. A person can bring at most two dogs into an off-leash area. Keep a leash in hand, and leash dogs before entering and after leaving the designated area.

If a dog becomes aggressive, leash it and remove it immediately. Owners remain responsible for injuries and damage. Do not leave the dog unattended or let it approach people without an invitation.

Places dogs cannot use

Dogs are excluded from shoreline and lake beaches and nearby picnic areas at Barnet Marine, Deer Lake, Burnaby Lake Regional and Fraser Foreshore parks. Sensitive river banks, ponds, streams and marshlands are also restricted, as are areas marked by dog-prohibition signs.

Pick up waste and use a red disposal bin or ordinary garbage bin. Keep dogs on trails to protect wildlife. Outside designated areas, the City lists a maximum two-metre leash, prohibits tying a dog to a pole or bike rack and requires pit bulls to wear muzzles even on a leash.

Reports and licence help

Report an animal control problem through the City form or 604-294-7944. A household can have three dogs under the licensing rule, but that does not change the two-dog limit per person in the off-leash area.
