The Opportunity
In this dynamic role, you will play a pivotal part in bringing ambitious design visions to life. You will take ownership of key gameplay elements, from conceptualizing engaging missions and game modes to refining combat systems and scripted events. Working alongside a talented, multi-disciplinary team of artists, programmers, and designers, you will iterate on gameplay mechanics to deliver polished, high-quality experiences that resonate with players globally.
What You’ll Do
- Ideate, design, and steward the development of engaging missions, compelling game modes, and innovative gameplay systems from concept through to final polish.
- Utilize industry-standard tools, including Unreal Engine, to create, implement, and debug intricate missions and gameplay mechanics.
- Take ownership of the design and quality of assigned missions and gameplay systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of player experience.
- Actively collaborate with a diverse team of designers, technical designers, artists, and programmers to achieve a cohesive and compelling game vision.
- Serve as a key point of contact for various departments, facilitating clear communication and integration across disciplines.
- Implement memorable challenges, dynamic combat encounters, clear objectives, and impactful scripted events within the game engine.
- Participate in regular critique sessions, providing constructive feedback to continuously elevate design quality.
- Present your work effectively to design leads, adapting quickly to feedback and iterating on designs to achieve optimal results.
- Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation to ensure clarity and consistency throughout the development process.
What You’ll Bring
- Demonstrated experience with visual scripting or scripting languages, showcasing strong technical capability.
- Solid understanding of game design fundamentals, including mechanics, constraints, and narrative integration.
- Proven knowledge and practical experience in implementing and utilizing gameplay systems within game levels.
- Experience working effectively in a collaborative, cross-discipline development environment.
- Proficiency with current scripting languages and level editors.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, fostering clear and effective collaboration.
- Awareness of accessibility and inclusivity within video games and workspace environments.
- Comfortable working with and communicating with other disciplines and teams.
