Director of Finance / Director of Accounting | Vancouver & Lower Mainland
Location: Vancouver, BC and surrounding Lower Mainland
Employment: Permanent and Contract Opportunities
Compensation: Typically $150,000 to $210,000+ annually, depending on experience and opportunity
The Opportunity

We are particularly interested in individuals who combine strong technical accounting expertise with commercial awareness, strategic thinking, and a proven ability to lead and develop finance teams.
Typical Responsibilities
Depending on the organization and mandate, responsibilities may include:
- Providing leadership and strategic direction across finance and accounting functions.
- Overseeing financial reporting, accounting operations, and regulatory compliance.
- Leading annual budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance analysis.
- Partnering with the CFO, CEO, and executive leadership on financial and operational strategy.
- Developing financial policies, internal controls, and governance frameworks.
- Managing cash flow, working capital, and financial risk.
- Leading and mentoring Controllers, Accounting Managers, FP&A professionals, and accounting teams.
- Supporting mergers, acquisitions, integrations, and business transformation initiatives.
- Overseeing ERP implementations, financial systems, and process improvements.
- Presenting financial results, business insights, and recommendations to executive leadership and stakeholders.
- Supporting long-term financial planning and organizational growth.
Qualifications and Experience
We are interested in senior professionals who offer:
- A CPA designation, with additional finance qualifications considered an asset.
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
- Previous leadership experience as a Director of Finance, Director of Accounting, Corporate Controller, or similar.
- Demonstrated success leading and developing accounting and finance teams.
- Strong technical knowledge of ASPE, IFRS, and/or US GAAP.
- Experience with financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and executive reporting.
- A proven ability to partner with senior leadership on strategic and operational decisions.
- Experience managing complex financial structures, multiple business units, or international operations.
- Strong commercial judgment, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in private equity-backed, high-growth, multi-entity, or publicly traded organizations would be particularly relevant.
