Role Description
The Assistant Branch Manager is a full-time, on-site position based in Vancouver B.C. This role works closely with the Branch Manager in supporting the overall operation, development, and continued growth of the branch.
While operational oversight, compliance, workflow management, training, and advisor support remain important parts of the position, we are looking for someone who is willing to go beyond the traditional definition of an Assistant Branch Manager.
A significant part of the role is developing a meaningful understanding of the advisors within the branch and the businesses they are building. The Assistant Branch Manager will be expected to engage advisors directly and personally, including having meaningful conversations with them on a regular monthly basis. These discussions are not intended to simply be administrative check-ins. The goal is to understand what is working, what is not working, where the advisor may be struggling, and where the branch can provide better support.
Every advisor operates differently. Their clients are different, their businesses are different, and the challenges they face will not always fit into the same template. We therefore want someone who is naturally curious and willing to ask questions before assuming they already know the answer. The successful candidate should be comfortable looking at an advisor's business from a different perspective and adapting the way they provide support based on what that particular advisor actually needs.
This position requires someone who is willing to think, participate, and contribute ideas rather than simply follow an existing process. We value people who are prepared to challenge the way things have traditionally been done when there may be a better, safer, or more efficient way of doing them.
Continuous learning is also an important part of the role. Financial services continues to change quickly, particularly in technology, cybersecurity, privacy, fraud prevention, physical security, artificial intelligence, and digital business practices. We do not expect someone to already know everything. We do expect them to have the curiosity and willingness to keep learning new skills, understand emerging risks, and become more capable as the environment around us changes.
Security should be viewed broadly. This includes cybersecurity and digital protection, but also understanding operational security, client information, fraud prevention, office procedures, and the practical risks that advisors and clients may encounter in their everyday business.
Just as importantly, the person in this position should bring humility to the role. Leadership does not mean always having the answer. Sometimes it means asking the right question, listening carefully, acknowledging when someone else has a better idea, and being willing to learn from advisors, staff, colleagues, and industry partners.
The Assistant Branch Manager will also support day-to-day branch operations, advisor onboarding and training, staff coordination, regulatory and company requirements, reporting, operational problem-solving, and branch growth initiatives. They will work closely with the Branch Manager to identify areas where the branch can improve its processes, technology, advisor experience, client service, and risk management.
Ultimately, we are looking for someone who sees the role as more than managing tasks. We want someone who is interested in people, interested in how advisors build their businesses, willing to have meaningful conversations, and prepared to continually improve how we support the people within our branch.
